Jezersko

It is said that we have the most beautiful nature in Jezersko. Of course, we agree. Not only is it beautiful, we also think it is special. Jezersko valley is known for its pristine nature, hospitable people and typical shepherd dishes. One of them is “Masunjek” or “Maslovnik”, which is famous for its taste and best enjoyed hot. A typical landmark is the recognizable silhouette of the Old Post; a traditional building that left its mark on the Valley.

Ideas and tips

If you're unsure about what to do or just need some ideas on how to make the most of your time in Jezersko, we offer you some suggestions.

  • Stargazing
  • Due to increasing light pollution, stargazing has become a rarity in many places. However, in Jezersko, it is still possible, as public lighting is switched off around 11 p.m., revealing a magnificent carpet of stars above us. Observing the stars on warm summer nights or icy cold clear winter nights is a unique experience that leaves an everlasting impression on our hearts.
  • Walk around lake Planšarsko jezero
  • When you visit Jezersko, you simply must also visit Planšarsko Lake. This charming little lake was dammed by the locals in memory of a once vast glacial lake. There is a pleasant walking path around Planšarsko Lake, where walkers can enjoy the exceptional backdrop of the mighty peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
  • Hike to the Mineral Water Spring
  • The healing mineral water originates above the Ankova homestead, but in 2013, for easier access, it was brought closer to the main road. Now you can pour yourself some 'Jezersko mineral water' from a large wooden trough. The mineral water contains a high amount of manganese and ammonium substances, thus beneficially affecting heart and circulatory diseases, while its high magnesium content also promotes digestion. It is recommended to drink up to two deciliters of mineral water per day.
  • Hiking or Cycling to Mlinarjevo Saddle
  • The tour begins in the village center, from where we head through the new larch bridge into Makekova kočna. The path leads us past the Mlinar and Makek farms. At the junction for the Makek farm, the asphalt ends, and a well-maintained gravel road begins, gradually ascending all the way. At the viewpoint at Mlinarjevo Saddle, you will be greeted with a splendid view of the village and the Karawanks.
